Orgy

An industrial metal group from L.A., Orgy play a particularly melodic brand of electronic-laden metal. Featuring L.A.-mainstay ex-Rough Cutt guitarist/synthesist/ producer Amir Derakh, along with vocalist Jay Gordon, guitarist Ryan Shuck, bassist Paige Haley, and drummer Bobby Hewitt, the band adopted a glam/electronica image in the late nineties, releasing their debut, Candyass, on Korn’s Elementree label (a subsidiary of Reprise) in 1998. Fueled by a cover of New Order’s Blue Monday, the album was moderately successful, and their second album, Vapor Transmission, hit number 16 on the album charts. Punk Statik Paranoia followed in 2004, after which the band took a break with members pursuing a variety of outside projects.

Discography: Candyass (Elementree/Reprise, 1998); Vapor Transmission (Warner Bros., 2000); Punk Statik Paranoia (Punk Statik, 2004).
