ANAAL NATHRAKH (1999–PRESENT). Dave Hunt (vocals), Michael Kenny (guitar/other instruments).
This death/black metal band from England who play part time (the band has only two full-time members) and dress in normal street clothing still play a ferocious and horrifically loud brand of fast metal. The band was started in 1999 as a way of combining industrial with black metal and is named after the spell Merlin uses to create magic in the film Excalibur. The band started the way most metal bands do, through word of mouth and demos. Two of their demos, the Anaal Nathrakh and the Total Fucking Necro, came to the attention of Earache Records, who then signed the band in 2002. Because of the limited two-man lineup the band rarely tours, but they do play the festival circuit from time to time. Despite the limited number of musicians in the band, Anaal Nathrakh is one of the most brutal and powerful bands in the extreme music genre.
