Raven were one of the more energetic of the thrash metal bands of the eightiesand one of the few to graduate out of the New Wave of British heavy metal. Raven were also immensely popular with fans earlier on for their heavy mixtures of thrash styling with progressive playing. Raven were also best known for the footballhelmet- masked antics of drummer Wacko, who departed the band after the Life’s a Bitch record to become an audio engineer. The band played to smaller crowds and did not record at all from 1988 until their comeback in 1995, which saw a return to the more classic Raven sound. Raven are one of the great lost bands of the eighties, and although they still tour to this day, their peak was in the mid-eighties and their first two albums are still thrash metal classics. Bring back Wacko!
