VANDENBERG (1982–86). Adrian Vandenberg (guitar), Bert Heerink (vocals), Dick Kemper (bass), Joe Zoomer (drums).
Best known as the vehicle that first gave future Whitesnake guitarist Adrian Vandenberg his start, Dutch hard rockers Vandenberg purveyed a somewhat bland yet sometimes catchy melodic rock that gave them a substantial European following, yet failed to break big in the States.
While “Friday Night,” the lead single from the band’s 1983 sophomore album Heading for a Storm, enjoyed a bit of American airplay, the band broke up after 1985’s Alibi, when Adrian Vandenberg was tapped by David Coverdale to join the revamped lineup that would tour behind Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987 breakthrough album.
