Testament are a technically adept thrash heavy metal band from the Bay Area who were notable for many years for the presence of virtuoso guitarist Alex Skolnick, who later left them to play in Savatage and later to start a rewarding fulltime career as a respected jazz musician. Testament also went through a bewildering collection of drummers, with seemingly every great metal drummer at one time or another, including Gene Hoglan from Death and Dave Lombardo from Slayer sitting in. The classic lineup with Skolnick reunited in 2006 and in 2008 released a new album.
