TORA TORA (1988–92). Anthony Corder (vocals), Keith Douglas (guitar), Patrick Francis (bass), John Patterson (drums).
After getting their start by winning a battle of the bands competition in their native Memphis, Tennessee, Tora Tora hit the pop metal scene with a decidedly blues/boogie feel, not unlike Tesla, with their hit MTV video “Walkin’ Shoes,” off of their A&M album Surprise Attack in 1989.
Although a follow-up, Wild America, was released in 1992, the band was a victim of record company restructuring and changing musical tastes and had broken up by 1994. In 2008, however, the four members reunited for a performance at the Rocklahoma music festival, though there was no indication whether the band would engage in any further musical activity together.
