SAIGON KICK

Initially a hard rock outfit out of Miami, Saigon Kick was formed in 1988 by lead vocalist Matt Kramer, guitarist Jason Bieler, bassist Tom Defile, and drummer Phil Varone. The band signed with Atlantic subsidiary Third Stone Records in 1990 after gigging around the southeast and released their self-titled first album that same year. A breakthrough of sorts occurred in 1992 with the hit single “Love Is on the Way,” off of their second album, The Lizard. When vocalist Kramer and bassist Defile left shortly afterward, the band welcomed Chris McLernon on bass, and guitarist Bieler took over lead vocals for the band. The subsequent release, Water in 1993, was a commercial disappointment, and the band was dropped by their label. By 1997 the band had officially called it quits.
