SCATTERBRAIN

Scatterbrain were a goofy metal act featuring ex-members of the punk/metal band Ludichrist. The band incorporated funk and rapping into their music and had a minor hit with the song “Don’t Call me Dude.” The band played mostly jokey but complex punk-tinged metal and their slick-yet-vibrant production, as well as the clever musical in-jokes of “Down with the Ship (Slight Return),” made the first record a pleasure. The next two records were more of the same to a smaller audience, and the band went on hiatus in 1994.

Discography: Here Comes Trouble (Combat, 1990); Scamboogery (Elektra, 1991); Mundus Intelectualis (Pavement, 1994).
