SLIPKNOT (1995–PRESENT). Corey Taylor (vocals), Mick Thomson (guitar), James Root (guitar), Paul Grey (bass), Joey Jordison (drums), Sid Wilson (DJ),
Craig Jones (sampler), Shawn Crahan (percussion), Chris Fehn (percussion). Slipknot are an American heavy metal band from Des Moines, Iowa, who had roots in grindcore but also were lumped into the nu metal scene of the mid-nineties.
The band’s gimmick was that no members were identified by name on stage and wore grotesque masks while playing live (and possibly in the studio, who knows?). This gave the band a sense of mystery. Their first album was probably the best as it harkened back more to their grindcore and death metal influences. Subsequent records start to veer into nu metal territory and are not nearly as adventurous as the early material.
