DETHKLOK (2007–PRESENT). Nathan Explosion (vocals), Toki Wartotoh (rhythm guitar), Skwisgaar Skwigelf (lead guitar), Murderface (bass), Pickles (drums).

Dethklok are the fictional death/black metal band in the cartoon network series Metalocalypse created by Brendan Small and Tommy Blacha. In the series, the group of moronic metal lords causes constant chaos and mayhem wherever they go and are also the most successful heavy metal band in the world, with an annual income that ranks as the twelfth largest GNP economy in the world (next to the home of the waffle, Belgium, which usually ranks at number 13). The plots of most of the series involve Dethklok trying (usually unsuccessfully) to put on a concert or write songs, observed constantly by a mysterious shadowy cabal of financiers’ politicians, generals, and bishops who gravely discuss the implications of the band’s idiotic (and usually deadly) stage sets and endorsement deals. The band is a cross between death metal and black metal styles, with guitarists from Sweden and Norway (the definitive home of black metal) and a drummer who appears to have been in a Guns N’ Roses-style L.A. metal band, Snakes N’ Barrels. The band is one of the most brutally accurate and honest portrayals of a heavy metal band ever seen on television, in cartoon form or otherwise.

Dethklok

On the official Dethklok album release, creator Brendan Small played bass, guitar and sang, and classic death metal drummer Gene Hoglan (Death/Dark Angel) supplied some suitably authentic death metal drums.
