GOATSNAKE

Goatsnake are a doom metal band featuring Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) along with the rhythm section for the Obsessed and vocalist Pete Stahl, formerly of Washington, D.C., punk heroes Scream. The band started in 1996  after the demise of the Obsessed. Along with the charismatic Stahl, who had also been in more mainstream band Wool, they began a series of slow and brooding doom metal/stoner metal recordings not too far from Kyuss territory. The band eventually started shedding members of the Obsessed. Dahlquist, formerformerly of Anderson’s bandmate in Burning Witch, joined before the band went on hiatus for several years, finally culminating in a reunion featuring Stahl and Anderson and a new rhythm section, for the underrated Trampled
Under the Hoof EP on Anderson’s Southern Lord records. It is unclear at this time if the band’s reunion will continue, or if there will be any more recordings or a tour.
