One of the more engaging and talented of the tribute circuit acts is this (allegedly) all, lesbian tribute to Led Zeppelin. While tribute bands are a common occurrence in the heavy metal scene—there are almost a countless number of cover bands, including “official” cover bands that accurately reproduce the sounds and image of many bands—Lez Zeppelin is one of the more popular of the recent cover bands, partly because of their all female and possibly lesbian lineup, but also because the band can actually recreate the sounds of Led Zeppelin.

This also indicated the misogyny inherent in much of the metal culture, as many male bands who cover Zeppelin are assumed to be musically competent, as opposed to a female cover band, who are often seen as a gimmick.

Although Lez Zeppelin does have a definable image, they are still much better and more musically adept than many bands who play the covers circuit and are possibly one of the better heavy metal bands currently touring, despite the fact that they are a cover band and have yet to release an album.
